Your journey begins by reaching the foothills of the Himalayas. Haridwar and Rishikesh serve as the primary transit points before you enter the mountains.

After a quick 5 km shuttle ride from Sonprayag to Gaurikund (₹30–₹50), your 16 km uphill trek to the temple begins. The trail climbs steadily through forested valleys and opens up to dramatic alpine meadows as you near the shrine.
The traditional and most rewarding way. The 16 km ascent takes 6–8 hours depending on your pace. The path is well-marked and supported with basic food stalls throughout.

Take an early morning train or overnight bus from Delhi. Arrive in Haridwar, check into your hotel, and complete your Yatra registration if not done online. Attend the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri.
Start at 5:00 AM for a long scenic drive through the mountains. Pass through Devprayag (where Alaknanda meets Bhagirathi) and Rudraprayag. Overnight at Sonprayag or Guptkashi to rest before the trek.
